TFT item drop odds Set 18: which component comes next?

TFT item drop odds: which component is next? – free tool by TFTClimb

Components from the creep rounds aren’t pure luck: they come from an item pool with the 8 basic components. Whatever has dropped is missing from the pool – so the remaining components become more likely. The item drop odds keeps count for you and shows which component can come next.

8components in the item pool
≈ 12random components from stage 1 to 4-7 on average
14%chance of at least one gold orb by 4-7

How the item pool works

  • At the start the pool holds exactly one of each of the eight components.
  • Every component that drops is then missing from the pool.
  • Before every new creep stage (2-7, 3-7, 4-7) one of each component is added.
  • Frying Pan and Spatula are not part of the pool – they come from orbs, augments or encounters.

Pro tipClaudio „CrazYSlayt“
No component drops twice in stage 1

Since there is only one of each component in the pool, you get each one at most once from the minion rounds. A second copy can drop at 2-7 at the earliest. So plan your first item from what you already have – not around a second copy of the same component.

Exception: item augments. If you get an augment that gives components, you can slam an item with two identical components early – the second one doesn’t come from the item pool then.

If you take several component augments, you quickly lose track of what came from the creep rounds. So only enter drops from minion and creep rounds above – components from augments aren’t part of the pool.

The more components have dropped, the more predictable the next drop becomes. After three or four entered drops you see exactly which items are realistic.

How to use the item drop odds

  1. Pick the current stage.
  2. Click every component as soon as it drops.
  3. Read which components are most likely to come next and plan your items around them.

FAQ

Are item drops in TFT random?

Not entirely. Components come from an item pool: whatever has dropped is missing from it until new components are added.

When are new components added to the pool?

Before every new creep stage, one of each component is added.

Do spatula and frying pan come from the pool too?

No. They are not part of the item pool – they come from gold orbs, augments or encounters, for example.

What drops from stage 5 on?

No more random components. Against Xerath you get orbs at 66% and 33% of his health and an anvil for a finished item when you win.
